Papa’s Chai

HELLO HOLIDAYS!

I will keep this post short and sweet so we can all get back to our festivities. Chai. A drink that can be done so many ways. At home, this is the way we make it, and we LOVE it. Since it is a more traditional chai, it will not taste like the chai latte served by your local barista (don't get me wrong, I love those too). Since it is easy to make a large pot, it's perfect for entertaining or just catching up with friends and family this holiday season.

Tips & Tricks:
To get a richer taste and appearance, use evaporated milk instead of fresh milk.

Prep Time: 0 minutes
Total Time: 10 minutes
Difficulty: Easy
Serves 4

Ingredients

  • 4-6 cups water (enough for 4 of your mugs)

  • 1 small piece cinnamon (3 to 4 cm piece)

  • 1 clove

  • 2 cardamom pods, shells broken (use your fingers to squish them)

  • 2 regular tea bags

  • Milk and sugar to serve

Method

  1. Place water, cinnamon, clove and cardamom into pot and bring to a boil.

  2. Allow pot to boil for 5-10 minutes.

  3. Add tea bags and let boil for additional 5 minutes.

  4. Add milk to pot until desired colour is reached.

  5. Serve hot (be careful)!
